Dear all!
We have now shipped around 2500 pins around the globe and are about to sum up the campaign.
From the outset this was a true Kickstarter campaign. We had an idea about a product that didn’t exist but we wanted to create. We had no reference points, no one to mimic, copy or learn from. Everybody told us that hardware is hard and we have learned that this is true.
It has been a steep learning curve and a crazy ride getting here. We’re two guys who set out to put a new piece of hardware on the market with global distribution, along with two apps to support it. And we managed to do it. We’re so proud of the final product and love to see that hundreds of you interact with the pin daily.
There have been debates on design choices and component sourcing in the comment fields. Battery life versus brightness and upload speed have been key issues when creating a lightweight wearable that needs to have the screen on continuously. The reflective screen we went for has a great energy to brightness ratio, compared to its competitors. Still today, two years after the initial design, it’s the best screen in mass production for this purpose to our knowledge. We have worn version of the pin for over a year now and it is the only piece of accessory we own that regularly makes people stop us on the subway or in a coffee shop to ask about what it is and where they can buy one.
This project wouldn’t have been possible without you who believed in the project and trusted us with your money to make it happen. We thank you for having the patience with the delays and especially for the kind words and energy during the perfect storm of setbacks during last winter. We’re grateful for the opportunity and we hope you’ll have as much joy from using the pins as we had making them.
We’re now expanding the team and producing pins at a growing rate. The app will improve continuously starting with community functions, sharing features and a better GIF creator. And soon we’ll start to sketch on our next expressive wearable.

Hi All,
The pins are at a sorting facility in Hong Kong today (Thursday), the shipment is being verified by our shipping partner Floship. They will do a re-packing project starting tomorrow and then send out the units early next week. We will write an update once all units have been shipped and we have sent out the tracking numbers. If you haven't received a tracking number after we have written that update please contact us via [email protected].

Hi all,
We had a small hiccup during the manufacturing process and had to split our first batch in two. We had to make a decision on how to ship the initial batch and decided that they had to go out to Kickstarter backers as they were the first to put funds into our project.
The final units are leaving the factory on Monday and we will start fullfilling all backers during the end of next week. You will all get an email from our Backerkit account with tracking numbers.
There are quite a few IndieGoGo backers who hasen't filled out their Backerkit survey so please check any spam folders for email from Pins Collective via Backerkit.

Hi All,
Kristoffer has spent a week at the factory, following the final assembly and ensuring that quality standards are met. He has had a great time in China and really dug into the manufacturing process and quality control when he was there. Some images from the assembly line :)
He also had some time over to work on alternative ways to attach the pin. Below you can see a first take on the “the clip”. This has gone through a revision since and will be slightly modified. This attachment will also be used for a magnetic solution. Only on “paper” as of yet but the vendor and Kristoffer found a way forward which ought to work rather well.
Ship out date from factory is still set to 31 October. It will take a couple days after that for them to arrive to Hong Kong. There they are re-packed, labelled and sent to all of our backers. Once we start shipping the first pins we will write a new update.
